The evolution of Meta’s wearable technology moves decisively towards the traditional optics sector, aiming to intercept that segment of users who permanently require corrective lenses. The new Ray-Ban Meta Optics models, called Blayzer and Scriber, represent an attempt to integrate virtual assistance into a design that does not differ from conventional frames. The first model has an essential rectangular structure available in two sizes, while the second adopts more rounded and contemporary lines, both characterized by thinned profiles to facilitate prolonged use throughout the day without the weight or bulk constraints typical of the first smart devices.
From a technical point of view, the new frames have been engineered to guarantee almost total compatibility with the various optical prescriptions existing on the market. Attention to wearability translates into the use of structural features such as hinges with extended opening, interchangeable nose pads and temples that can be adjusted directly by the optician to adapt to the shape of the customer’s face. Aesthetic customization follows the same approach, offering color variations ranging from the classic matte black to transparent seasonal shades such as ice gray and stone beige, accompanied by a renewed charging case in dark brown.
In parallel with the new hardware, the software sector receives significant updates aimed at improving global linguistic interaction. By this summer, the real-time translation feature will be expanded to twenty languages, including Mandarin, Korean and Arabic, among others. The expansion of the catalog also involves the Oakley brand with the Vanguard and HSTN models, now equipped with specific technological lenses for improving contrast in sports, such as the Prizm series dedicated to golf or the photochromic variants that dynamically adapt to variations in outdoor sunlight.
The new Optics models are scheduled to enter the market on April 14th, with a pre-order phase already started for the US territory. The price positioning for international markets starts from 469 euros, confirming Meta’s strategy of stabilizing AI glasses as a functional accessory for the user’s physiological needs. Availability will be guaranteed both through the group’s official online channels and at a selected network of optical retailers, marking a further step towards the definitive normalization of connected glasses in everyday life.
