Alongside this, a video was also published in which the former Chief of Staff was seen alongside several other senior commanders in the IDF, without full details being published at this stage about the circumstances of the photograph or its timing. The incident joins a series of attempted attacks in cyberspace, attributed to Iranian elements, as part of the broad campaign going on between the countries also in the digital arena.
In addition, the website of the Hebrew Language Academy was hacked by the hackers. Surfers who entered the site encountered a threatening message in English: “There is no need to learn Hebrew anymore. You won’t need it for a long time.” Next to the message also appeared the logo of the Iranian hacker group “Khandala”, which took responsibility for the hack.
The academy added: “Even the hackers who broke into the website understand that the Hebrew language is an integral part of the Zionist movement, and is an important pillar of Israeli culture, existence and identity.” It was also noted: “The incident is being handled in cooperation with the national cyber system, and we are working to restore the site to normal operation as soon as possible.”
