It was feared that Komsakulttur’s possible residence would be in danger.

In April 1974: The ancient relic, which was found on the beach of Teno a couple of years ago and is believed to be the place where the Komsa culture lived after the ice age, is constantly being damaged by tourists.

The Finnish Museum Agency has not yet received funding to investigate and protect the discovery.

“The Museum Agency has a dual interest in the discovery. A good sample of the area should be obtained in order to determine the age, structure and other aspects of this quality. We consider it more important than this to have the part of the area that is left unexplored protected and peaceful,” says Ari Siiriäinen from the Finnish Museum Agency.

The discovery is at the high bank of Tenojoki, which is a very popular viewpoint in the summer. Thousands of tourist feet tumble from the bump into the river and the valuable find is immediately lost.

The goal of the Finnish Museum Agency is to prevent the continued collapse of the crash after the inventory of the find. So far, it is not completely certain whether the discovery is really left by the enigmatic Komsa people and as such is 10,000 years old.

Komsa discoveries have not been made in the area of present-day Finland. Instead, on the coast of Petsamo, a settlement of Komsa culture was found.

Numerous komsa discoveries have been made on the coast of northern Norway since the first of them came to light in the 1920s at Komsatuntur. According to it, the entire early culture got its name.
