The activity of the Sun is at its peak: Soon we will be able to enjoy the aurora borealis again

The aurora borealis or aurora borealis, which is usually visible in the northern regions and towards the North Pole, was seen about a week ago in the sky above Croatia and in a good part of Europe. According to the BBC, we will be able to see the aurora borealis again in two weeks. Experts explained why this happened. They say that the Sun is approaching the peak of its 11-year solar cycle, which means that its activity is at its strongest.

– The activity of the Sun is peaking with a series of powerful solar flares and expected geomagnetic storms that can lead to visible aurora even in lower latitudes. Otherwise, the aurora borealis occurs several times a year, but it is difficult to see, especially if it is cloudy. It appears in very light shades at first, and then those colors intensify, only to fade away and disappear again towards the end. The sun is currently very active and a geomagnetic storm is being created, eruptions are what drive electrically charged particles away from the sun at high speeds. That’s when the aurora borealis is created – astronomer Ante Radoni said earlier.

It should not be dangerous for humans because the Earth is protected by the magnetic field and the atmosphere, but the sun’s flares can affect radio, GPS and satellite communication.
