Energy saving initiatives

Ultra-fine dry grinding technology for brick and tile production, smart green lighting system and technical application of fish sauce production… were awarded the Vifotec 2023 award.

The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (Vifotec) and the WIPO 2023 Award at the end of May honored 47 outstanding scientific works, based on novelty, creativity, widespread applicability, and economic efficiency. . The award focuses on 6 key areas including mechanical automation; materials, information technology, electronics and telecommunications; biology for production and life, technology to respond to climate change, environmental protection and rational use of resources; energy saving technology and new energy use.

In the field of Energy Saving and New Energy Use, the first prize went to the project “Application of ultra-fine dry grinding technology to produce high-quality, ultra-thin, energy-saving bricks and tiles” by author Anh. Labor Hero Nguyen Quang Mau, Master Nguyen Duy Tan, Nguyen Van Thanh (Dat Viet Ceramic Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company).

For the first time in Vietnam, Dat Viet ceramics applies super-fine dry grinding technology combined with super-fine materials to produce high-quality, super-thin, super-light, energy-saving brick and tile products. Dry grinding technology is superior to the old wet grinding technology and is effectively applied in the production development of Gom Dat Viet. Successful application helps save energy costs, coal costs, reduce labor and improve the company’s competitiveness, bringing economic efficiency of 46 billion VND/year. The research can become a foundation applicable to the entire construction materials manufacturing industry in Vietnam.

Another project about Research, design and manufacture smart green lighting systems Using solar energy integrating internet of things (IoT) technology and artificial intelligence (AI) for testing applications in border areas and islands, Rang Dong Thermos Light Bulb Joint Stock Company won the third prize.

The first solution construction project in Vietnam for border and island lighting systems using solar energy based on IoT and AI technology platform. AI technology helps devise adaptive control strategies to improve lighting efficiency, while predicting and diagnosing damages and improving product life cycles in the field of solar lighting. .

The research also addresses issues of battery performance, storage battery charging/discharging process, and optimal and stable data transmission technology. Currently, the pilot model of smart green lighting application is being practically implemented in Co To Island District, Quang Ninh.

According to estimates, for a 1 km road using LED lights powered by AC grid power, the investor has to spend about more than 3 billion VND, while using LED lights powered by solar energy, the investment cost is only about 1.36 billion VND. billion VND, saving about 50% – 60%.

Construction Applying solar technology and automatic stirring system to improve productivity and quality of fish sauce productionby engineer Nguyen Van Tuyen, Ba Lang seafood processing company, Thanh Hoa, is applied with high efficiency.

Traditional fish sauce has limitations such as high price, about 3-6 times higher than industrial fish sauce, and higher salt content (salinity). The project has applied new scientific and technical technologies to help fully utilize energy and improve quality in traditional fish sauce production.

Accordingly, the process of heating the swimming pool by natural sun exposure will be replaced by using a solar energy system and additional heating system. The manual mixing process will be replaced by an automatic mixing system. The application of solar energy technology combined with an automatic mixing system in fish sauce production overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional brewing method, shortening the fish sauce processing time to 8-10 months ( while the traditional method usually takes 15-18 months). Highly stable heating system helps overcome difficulties caused by weather, providing higher product recovery efficiency than traditional methods.

The application of technological innovation helps to obtain 62,000 liters of special type fish sauce, 27,000 liters of type 1 fish sauce, 13,000 liters of type 2 fish sauce, bringing economic efficiency of the production process with a profit margin of 23, 35. Compared to the conventional traditional production method, the new method has a faster production time and the amount of special fish sauce obtained is 100 liters/ton more than the traditional method, the quality of the fish sauce is more delicious, more harmonious taste.

The Vifotec Award has been jointly organized annually by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union since 1995. Currently, there are nearly 3,000 projects participating and more than 900 projects winning awards.
