Not just an innovative design: the cute “robot” that will charge your phone

The technologies of the chargers we use are constantly improving. The charging speed only becomes faster, the number of connections and charging power only increases, but the design remains relatively boring. The Nexode charger from the mobile and computer accessories company – UGREEN takes the design in a different direction.

The Nexode comes in the appearance of a cute robot, with its front being a screen that shows a face. Using the robot’s eye expressions, it is possible to understand that the charger is in standby mode, fast charging or that charging is complete. In addition, UGREEN integrated a cover in the form of legs for the robot, which allows it to be placed on the desktop when not in use.

UGREEN integrated GaN technology into the charger, this made it possible to make this charger so compact. GaN technology, an acronym for Gallium Nitride, is used by manufacturers to develop smaller chargers, which heat up less and provide fast charging rates. Here we get 65 watt charging, which allows you to easily charge not only smartphones, but also laptops.

UGREEN Nexode โ€“ three dynamic connections

The Nexode has three connections: two USB-C connections: the first connection is 65 watts and the second supports 30 watts. The USB-A connection supports 22.5 watts. These are dynamic connections, which change the charging power when several devices are connected. For example, in the connection of two devices, USB-C will give 45 watts and the other will provide – 20 watts or in the connection of three devices, you get 45 watts plus twice 7.5 watts in the two additional connections.

UGREEN states that the charger detects and provides fast charging on iPhones, Samsung’s Galaxy devices and also on MacBooks, so that you can enjoy maximum charging on these smartphones. It supports PD3.0 and QC 3.0 charging standards for compatible devices. I used the charger with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and it did deliver Samsung’s fast charging.

A nice feature here is Trickle Charging that maintains a full charge level of the device by a constant small current to the battery, which prevents overcharging and should preserve the battery life.

In the bottom line, the Nexode is a charger with a power of 65 watts, which allows charging 3 different devices at the same time, when it is designed for both smartphones and laptops. It offers support for fast charging standards, so if you have a Samsung smartphone, you won’t have any trouble taking advantage of its maximum charging speed (which isn’t very high anyway – 45 watts). Besides, it is compact and comes in the appearance of a robot with a screen.
