The North American firm succumbed to the revolution that Apple brought with the iPhone and the subsequent massification of Android devices. However, although it no longer competes in the cell phone market, it has chosen a segment with great growth potential: software and cybersecurity.

BlackBerry has demonstrated strong performance in this new approach. In the financial results presented for the first fiscal quarter, which ended on May 31, the technology company recorded revenues of 144 million dollars,exceeding the estimates of analysts, who had calculated about 134.1 million dollars.

According to Yahoo Finance, RBC Capital has indicated that the firm’s short-term profitability projection is improving. However, BlackBerry is not yet profitable. Despite the optimistic results, the company posted a loss of $42 million in the fiscal first quarter.

Despite this, BlackBerry seems to have found a suitable path to continue growing. Its clients include companies and governments around the world that rely on its services.

BlackBerry’s product portfolio includes, for example, a secure communications offering called BBMe, which runs on a variety of operating systems. It also has a suite of solutions under the Cylance brand, which offers prevention, detection and response to cybersecurity incidents.
