Admissions will be conducted by eight Zagreb high schools, can you solve the tasks?

This Friday, June 28, applications for high school programs for students entering the first year of high school under the regular program begin. Applications will last until July 8, or until July 1 for programs that require additional checks. The final enrollment lists will be published on July 10.

Enough room for everyone

In high school about 41,000 students are enrolled in Croatia this summer. There are 48,135 places for them, which theoretically means that there are more places than students. Students can choose between the two seven high school programs (including those in the mother tongues of minorities, in foreign languages, private and artistic high schools) in about 300 schools, and almost 60 4-year professional programs and more 75 three-year professional and vocational programs in about 750 schools.

All students enrolling in high school are registered in the upisi.hr system, in which points are automatically calculated for them, according to which they get a place on the list for the desired program. Each student can choose up to six programs, and after closing the list, they will automatically be enrolled in the program that is first, or near the top of the list, and in which they have the best place. Therefore, it is very important, the same for CARNET, that you keep in the first place the school you want to enroll in and for which – this is very important – you have the conditions.

In order to apply at all, for most high schools in Croatia, it is necessary to have a certain point threshold, which is approximately from 60 to 70 points, but there are high schools for which it is enough to have 50 points. For vocational programs, as well as most private and religious schools, there are no points thresholds (but there are tuition fees of more than 3,000 euros per year).

In Zagreb, moreć traditionally, a rush to high schools is expected, so the lowest threshold in public high schools is 68 points, and the highest is 77. For example, the popular MIOC, XV. gymnasium, has a score threshold of 77, X. gymnasium Ivan Supek 76, sports gymnasium Zagreb 70, natural science gymnasium Vladimir Prelog 74-77, XII. high school 71 points.

Bodovi are gathered together on the slopes of the mountains:

general grade point average – from 5th to 8th grade
average of individual subjects – from 7th to 8th grade (each school determines its own subjects)
entrance exam – up to 10 points

Conditions for acquiring additional points:

– child without adequate parental care – 1 point
a member of the Roma national minority who lives in conditions that could affect success in elementary school – 2 points

Competitions
sports national from 5th to 8th grade: 1st place – 3 points, 2nd place – 2 points, 3rd place – 1 point
national and international knowledge competition:
mathematics, chemistry, physics, Croatian, first foreign language: from 1st to 3rd place – direct entry, from 4th place onwards points depending on place and subject.

If there are candidates with the same number of points at the bottom of the list, priority is given to:

the candidate lives with one and/or both parents with a long-term serious illness
the candidate lives with both parents who are long-term unemployed
the candidate lives with a single parent
one parent of the candidate has died
health difficulties – regular curriculum

Entrance exams

Entrance exams of skills are conducted by all art schools, as well as those with design programs (graphics, textiles, etc.), and in the last few years, due to the many excellent students, in eight gymnasiums and schools entrance exams in certain subjects are conducted. and this year I will write it next week, from July 1 to 5.

Let us point out that this situation practically does not exist outside of Zagreb, so in gymnasiums in other cities there are mostly no score thresholds, or they are up to a maximum of 73, even in the best schools like III. gymnasium in Split.

Same entrance fee for the same subject

To make it easier students, a unique entrance exam for the same subject will be taken this year as well. If, for example, a student has applied for two or three schools where the mathematics exam is written, he will only write it at the school that is first on his priority list. As last year, the entrance exam brings up to 10 points, which enables even those who do not have the maximum 80 points on the grades to enroll in the desired school.
