DJI is betting on a new market: electric bicycles

DJIthe renowned manufacturer of drones and cameras, has surprised with the announcement of its foray into a new sector: that of electric bikes. At the Eurobike 2024 fair, the company has presented its own brand of electric mountain bikes, Amflow Bikes, according to reports ‘The Verge’.

The Amflow PL, the first model in this new line, stands out for incorporating the innovative DJI Avinox transmission system. This model can not only be controlled from the cell phone, but also allows monitoring of all cycling activity, consolidating its commitment to technological integration in mobility.

What is the new bike like?

The Amflow PL is an electric mountain bike that stands out for its maximum power of 850W and a weight of only 19.2 kilograms,Its carbon fiber frame weighs only 2.27 kg, which contributes to its lightness.

Equipped with the DJI Avinox Drive System, The Amflow PL engine delivers 105 Nm of torque and a rated power of 250W, with a weight of 2.52 kg. This advanced system automatically adapts assistance according to terrain conditions and the rider’s position, thanks to its sophisticated set of sensors.

The bike features a number of operating modes, including a ‘Boost’ mode that increases torque to 120 Nm and assistance to 1000W to make climbing hills easier. There’s also a ‘Walk’ mode that prevents rolling back and offers start-up assistance, as well as the ability to change gears while stationary.

The Avinox system offers two battery options: one of 600 Why another of 800 WhThe larger capacity battery weighs 2.87kg and can be charged from 0% to 75% in just 1.5 hours, thanks to its 12A/508W GaN charger.

The Amflow PL features a FOX-optimized rear shock and is compatible with 27.5″ and 29″ rear wheels. Its 2″ OLED touchscreen, with 800 nits brightness and 326 ppi, allows you to adjust various parameters from your smartphone or via a Bluetooth remote control.

The DJI app for the Amflow PL allows you to adjust power, torque, and cadence (up to 150 rpm), and includes anti-theft and remote location functions. The bike is equipped with a navigation system that combines GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, GLONASS, and QZSS.

DJI has announced that Amflow bikes will be available in the fourth quarter of 2024 in markets including Germany, the UK and Australia. There is no information on whether they will be available locally or what their price will be.
