Humanoid robots are already making cars: this is how Figure 01 works with BMW

The idea of a robot is quite old and over the years it is becoming a reality. In factories, robotic tools began to be used to make work easier, but now we are at the beginning of a new era with the humanoid robot.

Figure, a startup dedicated to developing artificial intelligence and robotics, has Figure 01, a humanoid robot that is already working to create cars from none other than BMW Manufacturing.

Today it represents the transition from industrial robots to humanoid robots in factories. It is located in one of BMW’s car factories in South Carolina, United States.

A Xataka report points out that one of the purposes of these robots is to perform some “difficult, unsafe or tedious” tasks, thanks to their human appearance. This also differentiates it from old industrial robots.

In a video shared by the startup on its social network X, Figure 01 can be seen carrying out its work in an orderly manner, although it performs its tasks with slow movements and is tied to a power supply cable.

The collaboration between the two companies began in January of this year. Figure said that its humanoid robots will increase productivity, reduce costs and create a safer and more consistent environment.
