Self-balancing unicycle on the road

Make It Extreme’s unique electric unicycle can provide a special on-road experience for the rider.

Make It Extreme, a YouTube channel by two Greek engineers, shares the process of building a unique one-wheeled motorcycle, Design Boom Instead of using an internal combustion engine, the design team created an electric vehicle with only one wheel. The manufacturing process was not too difficult because they had mastered how to produce the parts.

First, the designers created a giant metal frame. They shaped the frame into a perfect circle, like a circus wheel. The resulting metal wheel was 145 centimeters in diameter. The next step was to attach the tires. Since tires of the right size were not available, the team cut and recycled three tires from a motorbike and a go-kart. They connected the tires together and mounted them around the metal wheel.

Next, Make It Extreme moved on to the chassis. They used three rollers and black plastic material to help the wheels spin. They also used go-kart material to power the wheels, which are made from motorcycle tires. In fact, the wheels can be launched forward and moved thanks to two motors attached to the tires. This helps to get good grip while traveling and transmits power to the big wheels. This is because the tires on the go-kart are made of non-slip material. The motors run thanks to two controllers that Make It Extreme attached to the throttle.

The setup allows the electric unicycle to roll smoothly. While it’s dangerous to ride, it’s still a unique experience, according to Make It Extreme. Another thing that makes the electric unicycle special is the torque of the system. The new model has a much stronger motor and is faster than the previous smaller version.
