WhatsApp: you can now translate your chats in all languages with Google

WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to translate conversations and texts within the application itself thanks to the integration of Google Translate, which will work locally and maintain data privacy.

The platform plans to introduce new options aimed at improving accessibility and ease of use, while preserving the privacy of the information shared through it.

One of the latest features, already in the implementation phase, is the one that allows voice notes to be automatically transcribed into text in up to five languages, as WABetaInfo was able to verify in the latest beta version for Android.

This same portal has now warned of a new feature for users of said operating system, in the WhatsApp update 2.24.15.8 available through the Google Play Beta Program for testers.

This is a feature that allows you to translate messages directly in the application, without having to copy and paste the text you want to translate into another language into another application or web page intended for that purpose.

WABetaInfo has indicated that this feature is based on Google Translator’s live translation technology, which, when integrated into the application, maintains the privacy of users’ messages. This is because it will work locally, that is, without sending data to external servers.

Users will need to download language packs to enable this feature in the future, ensuring they have access to translations in the languages of their choice at any time. At the moment, it is limited to certain languages, such as Hindi or English, although the app is expected to be updated to accommodate more.
