WhatsApp is already working on the function that will finally put an end to spam

Meta will allow blocking messages sent by unknown accounts in WhatsAppa protection measure against spam and scams that is currently being worked on and that will be available to users in an upcoming service update.

To improve user protection, the technology firm has introduced various privacy tools, such as blocking contacts or temporary chats. Advanced options allow you to disable the preview of links shared in conversations and protect your IP address in calls.

Now, Meta is advancing another advanced privacy tool, which if activated, will block messages sent by unknown accounts, as shared by the specialized portal WABetainfo, although the description of the function clarifies that it will act “if they exceed a certain volume.”

In addition to improving user protection, this new feature is designed to improve the performance of the application itself by reducing the presence of spam, scams and other unwanted messages.

This is a feature currently in testing, which has been seen in the beta for Android (v2.24.17.24), and which will reach users in an upcoming update of the messaging application.
