Windows 11 24H2 update will boost gaming performance on AMD Zen 5 processors

The upcoming Windows 11 update will boost gaming performance for AMD processors with Zen 5 architecture, in response to complaints from users who expected more than they experienced.

The Ryzen 9000 series of processors is based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture, which helps make the CPU an important AI accelerator in the PC ecosystem. The company itself has consistently highlighted its performance in content creation, productivity, and AI applications.

However, community members who have already used these processors have experienced lower than expected performance in gaming, despite AMD’s data saying that the Ryzen 9000 series provided an average of 9 percent improvement in 1080p gaming compared to the Ryzen 7000 series.

These processors even offered better performance, on average, by 6 percent, in more than 30 games compared to the best of the competition. This figure, like the previous one, was obtained in internal tests by the technology company.

To meet gaming performance expectations, AMD has worked with Microsoft to incorporate an optional update into the upcoming Windows 11 update (24H2) that will provide a much-needed boost to community members.

Although it is primarily aimed at processors with Zen 5, AMD has clarified on its official blog that it will also improve the performance of Zen 4 and Zen 3.
