With the theme “Unlocking the power of artificial intelligence”, AI4VN 2024 attracted thousands of registrations and opened on August 23.
Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN) 2024 takes place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, with 4 main activities including: AI Summit, AI Workshop, AI Expo, AI Awards.
The event opened with 4 workshop sessions (AI Workshop) in the morning includes the following topics: Automation and AI; Application of artificial intelligence in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam; Data center and AI Cloud and Application of AI in the Healthcare sector.
The opening session was led by Mr. Phinith Chanthalangsy, Senior Advisor and Programme Manager for Social Sciences and Humanities, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, with a presentation on “Global Dialogue on Ethics in Artificial Intelligence: What are the Current Threats?”.
Moving on to in-depth topics, speakers and AI experts will present papers and panel discussions. Here, the development and application trends of generative AI, stories about data and cloud computing infrastructure, and the era of precision oncology will be updated. Discussions will revolve around “unlocking” solutions to current challenges and exploiting the strengths of this technology for Vietnam.
Closing the workshop session was a presentation on “Responsible Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Vietnam” by a representative from the University of Law (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). The topic analyzed global trends in responsible AI management and development, thereby presenting the current status of the responsible AI policy framework and recommendations for Vietnam.
AI Summit Main Session Opening at 2:00 p.m. the same day, reported online on VnExpress, with the participation of government leaders, ministries, large corporations, scientists, communities interested in developing and applying AI domestically and internationally, universities, and businesses.
At this forum, the real picture, opportunities and challenges when applying Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in various fields and the potential of this technology in the future will be recreated.
The main session began with speeches from leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Australian Ambassador, the US Ambassador, the Korean Ambassador and the UK Ambassador to Vietnam, followed by speeches and discussions by speakers from domestic and international technology corporations.
“World Artificial Intelligence Development Trends” is the opening highlight. Four experts from Google, Meta and universities from Australia and Korea share an overview of the world’s artificial intelligence development trends as well as how countries are adapting and taking advantage of AI technology.
The domestic picture will be described by speakers who are leaders of technology giants from VinBigdata, FPT and VNPT through real stories in developing AI technology at their units. The presentations revolve around the topics of AI autonomy, developing “Make in Vietnam” AI or finding breakthrough opportunities from GenAI, thereby clarifying the advantages and challenges in applying AI in Vietnam.
The festival also takes place Award for Outstanding Artificial Intelligence Products and Solutions (AI Awards 2024), honoring 5 outstanding projects with unique creativity in applying AI in businesses and human life.

Throughout the day, the AI Expo exhibition space includes booths displaying typical AI products from businesses, institutes, schools, etc. Attendees have the opportunity to experience new AI-applied products currently available on the Vietnamese market.
The AI4VN Festival is directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, organized by VnExpress Newspaper, FPT Online Services Joint Stock Company (FPT Online) in coordination with the Information and Communications Technology – University – Institute Club (FISU), starting from 2018.
After 6 years of organization, AI4VN has become an important national forum, gathering resources to successfully implement the National Strategy on research, deployment and application of artificial intelligence in Vietnam for the period 2020-2030.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, President of FISU Vietnam, assessed that the development of AI4VN has brought many bright spots in supporting meetings and connections in orientation, finding solutions for cooperation in developing AI applications in the business community, organizations and individuals. Besides creating a technology market and connecting supply and demand, finding investment sources, three AI ecosystems have been opened and developed related to training, research and application.
