Apple gives people in the EU more control over applications: They will be able to delete messages, camera…

By the end of the year, Apple will introduce changes to the browser selection screen, default applications and deleting applications for iOS and iPadOS users in the EU, the American company announced.

The changes will ensure that Apple can meet the requirements of the European Digital Markets Act.

In addition to setting new apps as default, users will be able to delete core apps, including the App Store, Messages, Camera, Photos, and Safari. The only Apple applications that cannot be deleted will be the ones for settings and for phone calls.

Future updates will include expanding default settings options for dialing phone numbers, sending messages, text translation, navigation, password management, keyboards and spam filters.

The changes will be available to developers who distribute applications in each of the 27 EU member states and apply only to applications available and distributed to users in the EU, Apple announced.
