Generative AI: These are the 100 most used consumer AI apps

The artificial intelligence Generative AI is a tool that is increasingly used by the public, whether specialist or not. And there are more and more applications that the company Andreessen Horowitz has compiled a list of the 100 most-used generative AI apps for consumers so far in 2024.

The evaluation is carried out in the first six months of the year and takes into account two blocks: on the one hand, there are the 50 best AI-based web products and the 50 best AI-based mobile applications. It was striking that almost 30% of the companies were new, which indicates a great interest in this technology.

At the web product level, the list is headed by ChatGPT. Below you can see the five positions that lead the ranking:

On the other hand, in terms of the use of generative AI platforms on mobile devices, ChatGPT also occupies the first place. Its appearance triggered the use of these tools. These are the five most used.

The report notes that creative tools continue to attract consumers. “Fifty-two percent of the companies on the web list focus on generating or editing content in different modalities: image, video, music, voice and more. Of the 12 new entrants, 58 percent are in the creative tools space,” the publication says.

Luma (No. 14), Viggle (No. 21), SeaArt (No. 29) and Udio (No. 33) are the first to appear on the list. And the one that has seen the greatest growth is the music generator Suno AI, which rose from No. 36 to No. 5. On the other hand, it is also noted that before content generation was focused on images and now it is only 41%, the rest is dedicated to video and audio creation.

As for mobile, the top result indicates that “users are eager to edit content on their phones.” This is the second most important category.

Overall, ChatGPT has a head start on its rivals, but competition is slowly heating up with the introduction of new tools. Perplexity is now the third largest search engine on the web, and has concise, accurate, real-time answers as its hallmarks.

Another competitor of ChatGPT is Claude from Anthropic. Additionally, this company also launched Artifacts , which directly competes with ChatGPT’s GPTs.

And the best debut has been made by LuzIA, in the mobile field, occupying the 25th position. It has more than 45 million users, and they are Spanish speakers. It is a chatbot that was launched to work with WhatsApp. That is, you can chat with LuzIA as if it were a contact. From China, Bytedance (creator of the social network TikTok) has also had strong growth with Gauth (44), Coze (45) and Doubao (47).
