Brazil’s Supreme Court banned platform X in the country

This move is the latest in a series of months-long conflicts between the Brazilian court and Elon Musk. In the decision, Moraes ordered a “full and immediate suspension” of X in the country until the platform complies with all previous court rulings, including a $3.28 million fine and the appointment of a legal representative in Brazil.

Moraes ordered telecommunications regulator Anatel to implement the decision and to confirm it to the court within 24 hours.

Moraes also said that individuals or companies that try to gain access to X will be punished.

Earlier this year, Moraes ordered Xu to block certain accounts involved in fake news and hate speech.

Musk, denouncing the order as censorship at the time, responded by closing the platform’s office in Brazil.

X, formerly known as Twitter, said at the time that its services would continue to be available in Brazil.
