Noland Arbaugh, the first patient of Neuralinkhas decided to name her brain chip “Eve” seven months after the surgery in which it was implanted.
Arbaugh, who became a quadriplegic after a diving accident in 2016, has been using the device to improve his skills in various aspects. Through a post on X, he has shared the details of his experience.
Specifically, he revealed that he spends about four hours a day in sessions with the Neuralink team, testing the implant. In his free time, he uses it to study the Bible, learn new languages such as French and Japanese, and review mathematics from scratch, with the hope of resuming his studies in the future.
The Neuralink implant, developed by Elon Musk’s company, captures brain activity and transmits it to a computer, allowing Arbaugh to control his computer mouse and perform various tasks. Although the device initially had problems, Neuralink managed to fix the problems, and now Arbaugh reports that the chip is working properly.
Noland Arbaugh, standing next to his “Eve” chip, is optimistic about his future, saying that his life has improved significantly since he began using the device.
