Samsung presented at the IFA 2024 its Bespoke AI Washer Dryer, a low-consumption laundry combo but with high performance in terms of energy use artificial intelligencecontinuing the company’s vision of making life simpler, more connected and more meaningful.
The new washer-dryer from Samsung It is capable of completing a cycle in 98 minutes for a load of three kilos, equivalent to 17 T-shirts. The device has up to 26 kilos of washing capacity and 15 kilos of drying capacity.
The new model of Samsung It uses a quarter of the energy of previous models and thanks to its AI Energy Mode it can save up to 60% of energy.
However, what is most striking is the way in which he uses the Artificial intelligence to detect not only the weight, but also the type of fiber in the garments and the dirtiness of the laundry load in order to regulate the detergent load and choose the appropriate cycle for the type of laundry. In a session for Latin American media held within the framework of the IFA in Berlin, in which The Trade was present, it was mentioned that one of the sensors measures the amount of dirt particles in the water, being able to determine the type of wash that is needed.
Also mentioned was the use of Heat Pump technology, which improves the efficiency of internal air circulation, preventing fabrics from shrinking and consuming less energy: the system takes the humid air created in the drying process and passes it through a heat exchanger, which removes the moisture, and the dry air re-enters the drum to continue drying the clothes. In the case of the Bespoke AI Washer Dryer, this heat exchanger is especially large, increasing the speed at which humid air is transformed into dry air and reducing drying time by up to 50% and energy consumption by up to 70%.
Finally, emphasis was placed on its intuitive and oriented interface with Samsung’s digital assistant, Bixby, which allows access not only to the washer-dryer’s functions such as the automatic opening of doors to avoid bad odors. The integration with other devices of the brand through SmartThings makes it possible to access phone calls and even video or weather information, among others.
