IFA 2024: Ballie, the virtual assistant that rolls around your house while organizing your life

It is no more than 30 centimetres tall and it wanders around the house following you. Its name is Ballie and it is not a pet, but a device that is ready to make your life easier. Ballie is a curious device presented at the stand of Samsung in the IFA from Berlin, Germany.

Ballie is a virtual assistant capable of many things. Using artificial intelligence, it is not only able to follow one of the family members, but also to recognise who is speaking to it. It looks at you and calls you by name, and therefore it must also know what your health situation is.

They didn’t say that, but it’s what can be inferred from Ballie’s connection to SmartThings, Samsung’s ecosystem that allows all of its devices to talk to each other. It’s as simple as asking it to turn on the TV, for example.

But Ballie’s integration into our lives will not only be through devices. The little assistant can help you organize your day, give you reminders and even let you know how to get somewhere and what the weather is like. Its arrival, calculated for this year according to what one of the people in charge of the development told El Comercio, could change the way we relate to our home.
