Sonos’ new app glitches forced it to delay the launch of its first set-top box, according to Bloomberg

The new application of Sonos not only has it brought problems to the users of its products, but it has also forced the company itself to delay the launch of new devices, among which is a Roku-style set-top box.

The technology brand acknowledged at the beginning of August, on the occasion of the results of the third quarter of its current fiscal year, that the errors that the new application, available since May, presented, had overshadowed positive data such as year-over-year revenue growth driven by Sonos Ace headphones.

Its chief executive, Patrick Spence, also said the failed app had forced it to delay “two major launches” of new products, which were planned for the fourth quarter. One of them was its first set-top box.

This device is internally called ‘Pinewood’ and is expected to arrive eventually in March of next year, as Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman has pointed out. With it, the technology firm would enter a market where devices such as Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV already compete.
