Apple launches new Watch Series 10: measures sleep apnea and water depth

Apple has announced its new Apple Watch Series 10, a smart watch that reduces its thickness, increases the size of its screen and incorporates functionalities dedicated to health and the measurement of sports activity, such as the detection of sleep apnea and water depth in aquatic sports.

The Cupertino-based company held its annual event on Tuesday under the motto ‘It’s Glowtime’, where it also unveiled its new smartphones, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, as well as recalling some of the features that come with iOS 18.

In the case of Apple Watch Series 10, the firm has commented that this device comes with a wider panel to be “more useful and intelligent”, understanding that for users “it is crucial” to have a large and accessible screen at their disposal. With an OLED screen, it has been created to be a 40 percent brighter when viewed from any viewing angle, which has also been enlarged.

In addition to being the smartwatch lighterhas a sapphire crystal coating. It can be chosen in two finishes – aluminum and titanium – as well as in three colors (grey, gold and black), also in two sizes: 42 mm and 46 mm.

At the battery level, it charges at 80 percent in just half an hour and offers a battery life of up to 18 hours. Meanwhile, the S10 chip is designed to offer better performance, also taking into account energy efficiency in its manufacturing process, and it also promises to offer an extended lifespan.

The company has commented that this device is focused on being used for health-related issues, as it addresses disorders such as sleep apnea and displays data related to breathing that can be shared directly with a professional or doctor.

It also comes with a sensor intended for water sports, which measures your temperature and has a Range of use up to 6 meters for activities such as swimming or snorkeling. This also works outside of the water, for sports like surfing or rafting. The Workout app now displays distance, speed and offers route maps.

In the case of the device Ultra 2which like the previous one will come with a special Hermès strap, the brand has insisted that this model refines the functionalities to offer more options to athletes even in environments where there is no internet connection.

Made in Black Titanium, the Ultra model incorporates the functionalities of the previous smartwatch – such as the apnea detection function and the electrocardiogram application – and comes with a pantalla retina OLED LTPO2 always on, with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

It is also waterproof, has a sensor to measure your temperature and is suitable for high-speed water sports. Plus, it works at a depth up to 40 meterscomes with Dual frequency GPS and has mobile connectionl. As for its autonomy, it lasts up to 36 hours of normal use and up to 72 hours in low consumption mode.

Pre-orders are now open and will be available from September 20 for 449 euros for the standard 42 mm version with GPS, while the 46 mm version will cost 479 euros. However, the price also depends on whether you want to integrate it with your phone, which will cost 569 euros. The Ultra model, with a 49 mm titanium case, will be sold for 899 euros.
