The Formation of the von der Leyen II Commission will take longer than expected. The Slovenian government, the European Parliament press service reports, “has informed the Commission that the Slovenian Parliament will express its opinion on the proposed candidate for the post of Commissioner last Friday. Only after this step will the nomination of the candidate be complete and official.”
On this basis, the Commission has asked the European Parliament to “postpone the presentation by President Ursula von der Leyen to the Conference of Presidents (CoP) on the composition of the future College until the list of candidates is complete. The European Parliament stands ready to start the hearing and, at the request of the Commission, the CoP with President Ursula von der Leyen will take place next Tuesday at nine“, in Strasbourg. The presentation at the CoP was previously scheduled for tomorrow in Brussels.
