Football: Freiburg’s Muslija after expulsion: “Mistakes made”

Florent Muslija from Bundesliga club SC Freiburg has admitted a mistake after being kicked out of the Kosovo national football team, but denied rumors that he had visited the club at night. “I made a mistake, for which I naturally take responsibility. I left the team hotel two days before the Nations League match against Cyprus without prior agreement,” Muslija wrote on Instagram, adding: “But not to party late into the night – but to go out for dinner. To get out.”

Muslija was dropped from the squad for Kosovo’s Nations League match against Cyprus on Monday. “No question: That was definitely not the best and smartest idea of my life,” said the 26-year-old. He apologized for his actions, said Muslija. “Something like that shouldn’t happen. And anyone who knows me knows: Something like that won’t happen again.”

Before Kosovo’s 4-0 victory over Cyprus, German national team coach Franco Foda dropped two other players from the squad, in addition to Muslija, who, according to the association, were also said to have violated established rules.
