Egyptian FM: “Explosions in Lebanon make it difficult to reach an agreement with Hamas”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty told a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Egypt will not tolerate any changes on its border with the Gaza Strip.

“Egypt has not changed its position. We reject any military presence on the other side of the border crossing and the entire Philadelphi corridor,” he said, adding that the explosions in Lebanon make it difficult to reach an agreement with Hamas.

Blinken’s visit to Cairo is intended to promote a settlement between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group. However, US President Joe Biden’s term expires in four months. According to media reports, Cairo believes that Blinken’s visit is part of Kamala Harris’ election campaign.
