US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has commissioned an online ad expressing solidarity with the suffering of Gaza residents. According to NBC News, the ad is targeted at residents of communities with a large Muslim community in the state of Michigan.
The ad campaign, with the slogan “We cannot remain silent while the people of Gaza suffer,” launched on September 17 on Snapchat and Google. It is said to be the first ad since Harris entered the presidential race that addresses her position on what is happening in the Strip.
The ad cites a statement Harris made to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after entering the presidential race, in which she condemned the deaths of Gaza civilians while supporting Israel’s right to self-defense. The ad does not mention the second part of the statement.
The channel notes that groups affiliated with the Republican Party are also running targeted ads in the same communities, highlighting Harris’s support for Israel and the fact that she is married to a Jew.
