125 crocodiles slaughtered in Thailand over fears of escape after floods

Siamese crocodiles can grow up to three meters long. They are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List, a list of plants, animals and fungi that maps the risk of extinction for thousands of species and subspecies. It is a critically endangered species in the wild. In Thailand, however, the crocodilian is still farmed for its skin.

The owner electrocuted the Siamese crocodiles he has been raising for “seventeen years.” He says he asked authorities to take them in until the floods passed, but his request was denied because the crocodiles were too big.
