Halle/S. (Saxony-Anhalt) – According to the law, parents and grandparents have a guarantor position towards their children and grandchildren. Sophie’s (†2) parents and grandmother should also have saved the blonde girl, but they did not get help…

The innocent child paid for the adults’ hesitation and fear with her life.

That is why the Halle public prosecutor’s office is demanding the harshest punishment for the trio: Sophie’s dad, her mom (both 36) and her grandmother (63) must stand trial for murder!

I am 12. May Little Sophie died in HalleDespite severe scalding, the girl was left without medical attention by her family. In May, the charge was still: joint manslaughter through omission!

Only father André G. was taken into custody because he was considered a flight risk.

Autopsy revealed severe skin burns

The autopsy had previously shown that Sophie died of major skin burnsThe girl had already sustained the injuries two days previously. Immediately before his arrest, the father had admitted to BILD: “It’s my fault. I wanted to give Sophie a shower. She said the water was too cold, so I turned it up too high and boiling hot water ran down her back,” said André G., referring to a defective water heater.

However, the police also followed up on indications that father André had said that he had dipped the girl in hot water “to teach her a lesson”.

At the time of her death, Grandma Kirstin G. (63) had been looking after Sophie and had treated her wounds with cottage cheese. Instead of taking Sophie to the emergency room, the parents went with the other two children (1, 4) to Halle Collecting beetles on the Saale.

Apartment is now deserted

The deceased girl’s grandmother and mother also declared themselves innocent. They both claimed that the defective water heater in the bathroom was to blame for Sophie’s death.

The family, which denies all allegations, has since moved out of the apartment where the crime was committed. Public prosecutor Dennis Cernota confirmed to BILD: “The criminal charge has been expanded. The charge now includes murder by omission to conceal another crime.”

If Sophie’s father, mother and grandmother are convicted of this charge, the only possible punishment is life imprisonment. The “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung”, published in Halle, was the first to report on the charges.

The judges of the jury chamber of the Halle Regional Court will now examine the charges and then decide on admission and the start of the trial.
