US State Department: “We support Israel’s right to self-defense”

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a briefing for journalists that, according to information received from Israel, a limited operation is currently underway along the border with Lebanon. “However, we want to see a long-term regional solution and continue to work towards achieving it,” he added.

A State Department spokesman said Antony Blinken is holding a series of talks to address the escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon. He is also discussing the situation with the foreign ministers of France and Great Britain.

At the same time, Matthew Miller added that the United States supports Israel’s right to self-defense, including the elimination of Hassan Nasrallah.
