Maize production fell by 17% 24 hours

In Croatia, 1.6 million tons of corn will be produced in 2024, which is 17.3 percent less than in 2023, according to the first estimates of the most important late crops as of September 1, published by Dr. Caron; National Institute of Statistics (DZS). According to DZS data, the expected average production of corn per hectare is 6.1 tons, which is a lower yield than in the previous year when it was 7.4 tons per hectare.

A drop in production is also estimated for sugar beet, by 12 percent, to 440 thousand tons. The expected yield per hectare is 44 tons, while in 2023 the yield was 62.4 tons per hectare.

It is also estimated that sunflower production will be 1.9 percent lower and will amount to 155 thousand tons. The expected yield per hectare is 2.5 tons, in contrast to 2023, when it was 2.6 tons.

Data from the CBS show that 240 thousand tons of soybeans will be produced this year, which is an increase of 12.7 percent compared to the previous year. Nature per hectare will be 2.5 tons, unlike the year before when it was 2.8 tons.
