The boiling call of anti-Israel organizations to mark the “Year of Genocide”
While millions, including Jews and Israelis, will mark the anniversary of the massacre on October 7, there are those who are concerned about making this painful day even more difficult. Anti-Israeli organizations, which have been active during the past year mainly on campuses in the USA, are calling on their supporters to go on huge marches, precisely on this day, and to mark the “year of the genocide in Gaza”. The Consul General of Israel for the Southeast USA, Anat Sultan Dadon, told N12: “We are working with the university administrations so that they show the necessary leadership, and stand up for the right of the Jewish students on the campuses.”In a letter distributed last month by the ADL (Anti-Defamation League), the writers warn the heads of 125 institutions of severe confrontations expected around those events: “Any demonstration of this type could be traumatic for the Jewish communities who see this date as a day of mourning.” In addition, the members of the defamation league demand that the heads of the universities do their utmost to prevent any friction or harm to Jewish students.

The extreme student cell Students for Justice in Palestine, or SJP for short, As expected, he is the main organizer of those marches. On many Instagram pages of the organization’s cells, which is located on a very large number of American campuses, posters are distributed that call on students to go to demonstrations and huge marches. On the official page of the organization, which has over 65 thousand followers, there is a post at the beginning of the page announcing a “week of rage” that will begin on October 7. “Students all over the US and the world will unite together for a week of rage to mark the one year anniversary of the genocide in Gaza,” the description of the event reads.

The pro-Palestinian audience is not satisfied with advertising on the networks. All over Atlanta, one of the largest cities in the USA located in the southern state of Georgia, Israelis found flyers in mailboxes inviting the public to join the protests.

On the Instagram page of the extreme student cell at New York University, there is a post that declares: “A year for genocide, a year for the student intifada – there is no school during genocide.” The detailed schedule for October 7th reads, among other things: “At 15:00 we will gather in Washington Square to march vigorously across the city! Dare to fight and win!” The post is shared with other organizations and has already garnered thousands of likes, comments and shares.

A similar march will take place in Brooklyn, New York, an area with large Jewish and ultra-Orthodox communities. “toOur universities have a connection to this genocide through their investments and connections with the companies that supply Israel with weapons and technology to carry out its genocide. If you are a Tandon, CITY TECH or LIU student, leave your classes and join us to demand an end to all ties with the State of Israel,” the local chapter’s official page reads.

Even in the great city of Chicago, the situation is not encouraging. Protests in one of the main cities in the USA are expected to begin, as in Toronto in Canada, already today. The title of the events is exactly the same as the others: “A Year for Genocide, a Year for Resistance”.

Anat Sultan Dadon, the Consul General of Israel for the Southeast of the United States, told N12 about the preparations for those events: “Ahead of the October 7th anniversary, supporters of terrorism on campuses are now preparing to hold demonstrations of hatred and bashing Israel. In contrast, we are in contact with various student organizations , Jews and non-Jews, who plan to hold commemorative events to mark that terrible date. Unlike the hate demonstrators, these will be demonstrations of Jewish pride and unity. We strengthen those who are now standing by the truth, and we will continue to call on others to join and stand aside the right of history”.

Sultan Dadon added: “Since October 7, unfortunately, the academic arena has turned into a space where, instead of fostering learning, litigation and critical thinking, it has become a space used by anti-Semitic elements who seek to attack Israel and the Jews, while they are dragging along a public whose ignorance confuses them. We welcome the fact that there are Academic institutions that have already taken the necessary steps against elements on campuses who support terrorism and spread hatred.”

“We, as a consulate, are working with the university administrations so that they show the leadership that is required now and stand for the right of the Jewish students on campus and for the values and principles without which the academic arena becomes very dangerous, today and for generations to come,” she said.
