Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Pakhnejad landed on Khark Island to visit the country’s oil facilities, the ministry’s Shana news website reported. The visit comes amid fears that Israel may target Iran’s largest oil terminal.
It is reported that this oil terminal can store 23 million barrels of crude oil.
Israel’s military spokesman said on Saturday that Israel would retaliate after a missile attack by Tehran “when the time is right”.
After the Iranian attack, Axios quoted Israeli officials as saying that Iranian oil facilities could be targeted in retaliation. US President Joe Biden has stated that he believes that Israel has not yet decided how to respond.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has said earlier that Israel’s missile strikes were legal and “if necessary” Iran would do it again.
