On October 7, Piunova wrote: “Since yesterday, there has been no contact with Dusheiko’s group (Oleg Kruglov, Vladimir Chistikov, Mikhail Nosenko, Dmitry Shpilevoy). The guys went on an assault, did not reach the summit and began their descent. At eleven in the evening they made contact for the last time. Valera Shamalo went out for the assault with the group, but later felt bad and decided to return. He spent three nights above 7000, today he independently descended to the camp at 6100 m. Dhaulagiri is a multi-peaked mountain range in the Himalayas. The main peak of the massif, Dhaulagiri I (8167 m), is the seventh highest eight-thousander in the world.
