Vietnam – Laos agree to increase traffic and tourism connections

Leaders of Vietnam and Laos agreed to strengthen comprehensive connection between the two economies, especially infrastructure, transportation, investment, and tourism.

At a meeting with Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone in Vientiane on the morning of October 8, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam values ​​and gives highest priority to the relationship with Laos.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed strengthening cooperation in digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, agriculture, high-tech livestock, ensuring food security, and training high-quality human resources. The Prime Minister hopes that Laos will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to do business in Laos.

Vietnam also wants to coordinate with Laos and ASEAN member countries, ensuring that the bloc demonstrates a unified stance on regional issues.

Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone affirmed that he will coordinate with the Vietnamese government to implement projects of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos on schedule.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to strengthen security and defense cooperation; Increase comprehensive connection between the two economies, especially infrastructure, transportation, investment, and tourism. Vietnam and Laos continue to coordinate with Cambodia to make the three countries’ cooperation increasingly practical and effective.

On the same afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, asking the two countries’ parliaments to create a favorable legal framework to enhance comprehensive connectivity, especially in the five institutional and energy fields. , transportation, trade – investment and agriculture.

National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane agreed to promote local cooperation in agriculture, irrigation and processing of agricultural products for export; enhance the sharing of professional experiences; Support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums.

Meeting with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the two sides need to further strengthen the connection between the two economies of Vietnam – Laos and between the three economies of Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia.

The two countries will continue to exchange experiences, information, coordinate and support each other at international and regional forums, especially in ASEAN, the United Nations and sub-regional mechanisms.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is on a business trip to Laos on October 8-11 to attend the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, with the theme ASEAN: Promoting connectivity and self-reliance.
