Benjamin Netanyahu: “Iran wants to enslave the world and return to the Middle Ages”

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated this Wednesday (9) that “there is only one force in the world that fights against Iran”, referring to his country, which is still preparing its retaliation for the attack launched on 1st October against Israeli territory.

In a meeting with a delegation from the conference of presidents of the main Jewish organizations in the United States, Netanyahu reiterated that Israel is waging “the war of the free world”.

“We make it difficult to conquer the Middle East,” said the head of the government, who argues that Israel is a kind of containment wall between Iran and the West. “They want to enslave the world and return us to the Middle Ages.”

The statements come amid an escalation of tensions between Israel and the Tehran regime, after it attacked Tel Aviv with almost 200 ballistic missiles on October 1, in an operation that left one person dead in the West Bank – a man whose remains fell of the interception of one of the projectiles.

Iran was responding to the recent death of the leader of the Shiite terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli bombing of the group’s headquarters in Beirut, as well as that of the former leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in an attack in Tehran that Israel never claimed.

This Wednesday, Netanyahu is expected to speak by phone with United States President Joe Biden to discuss Israel’s imminent attack on Iran.

The Israeli press claims that the Israeli Prime Minister postponed the trip of his Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, to the United States until this call was made.

Biden’s role would be to try to moderate the Israeli response, avoiding an attack on Iranian oil refineries or nuclear facilities, although communication between the United States and Israel has suffered since Tel Aviv began its campaign of attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
