British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he would never impose a complete arms embargo on Israel. The politician said that Israel has the right to self-defense, and that it is impossible, by supporting this right, to deprive Israel of the means necessary for defense.
“A ban on the supply of defensive weapons to Israel a year after the events of October 7 is unacceptable to me. I cannot authorize such a ban in the face of Iranian attacks,” Starmer said, answering questions from MPs in the House of Commons.
A few weeks ago, the UK government froze 30 licenses to supply military equipment to Israel, suspecting that it could be used in violation of international law. However, 32 licenses remained in force.
Let us recall that French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, October 5, called for a stop to arms supplies to Israel, emphasizing that the priority for the war, which has been going on for almost a year, is a “political solution.”
