Argentina has the lowest inflation since November 2021

Inflation in Argentina in September was 3.5% compared to August, the lowest monthly price variation in the country since November 2021. The Consumer Price Index (IPC) was released this Thursday afternoon (10) by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec).

Shortly after his inauguration, in December 2023, President Javier Milei promoted a strong devaluation of the peso. Monthly inflation in Argentina was 25.5% that month, almost double that recorded in November. However, since then, the index has been falling significantly.

The only exceptions were June and August, when there were slight increases compared to previous months. In the month before last, inflation was 4.2%.

According to Indec, from January to September, the variation was 101.6%. In 12 months, inflation was 209%.

In comparison with August, the sector that showed the biggest increase in September was housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (7.3%), due to increases in rent and related expenses, electricity, gas and other fuels and water supply . Next came clothing and footwear (6%), due to the change of season.
