Georgia will not participate in the third meeting of the “3+3” platform to be held in Istanbul on October 18.
“Georgia announced a long time ago that it does not work with this format,” Varastan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Russian TASS.
Yerevan has already confirmed its participation in the regular meeting in this regional format. Ararat Mirzoyan, head of the foreign ministry, will leave for Turkey.
The participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has also been confirmed.
“3+3” is a regional cooperation format initiated by Turkey and supported by Russia after the 44-day Karabakh war. It assumes the participation of the three South Caucasian countries – Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan – as well as the three powers of the region – Russia, Turkey and Iran.
Georgia has not participated in any of the meetings so far, due to the contradictions with Russia.
The first session of this platform was held in 2021, the deputy foreign ministers met in Moscow, the session held in Tehran last year was already at the ministerial level.
