Essen: Man seriously injured in knife attack

Brutal knife night in Essen! A 34-year-old man was seriously injured in the city center on Friday evening. But his life is now out of danger.

At 7 p.m., emergency calls were received by the Essen police control center that a man had been attacked and seriously injured with a knife. The first police officers to arrive found the victim covered in blood on the sidewalk at the stop at the “Rathausgalerie” shopping center. The seriously injured Moroccan was bleeding profusely from his neck and was barely responsive. He was treated at the scene by an emergency doctor and underwent emergency surgery in an Essen hospital.

Search measures initiated immediately for the suspect were unsuccessful. According to current investigations by the police, the future victim was standing with two acquaintances in front of a kiosk in the city center. The knife attacker ran directly towards the Moroccan and immediately stabbed him several times in the neck with a knife. The perpetrator is said to have shouted “I’ll kill you” in Arabic.
