The former president of the United States and candidate for the White House for the Republican Party, Donald Trump, criticized this Friday (18) the current president, Joe Biden, for “trying to contain”, according to him, the Prime Minister of Israel , Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Just so you understand, Biden is much superior to the vice president (Kamala Harris, Trump’s opponent in the November 5 election). (But) he (Biden) is trying to contain him (Netanyahu) and he probably should be doing the opposite,” Trump said in a brief statement to the press before participating in an election roundtable in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Earlier this week, the US government sent a letter to Israel warning that if it does not improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza with an increase in aid flows next month, the country could violate US government rules on foreign military assistance and lose the help you receive.
Trump’s remarks came a day after it was confirmed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed the leader of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, in Gaza.
“I’m happy that Bibi (Netanyahu’s nickname) decided to do what he had to do. He’s doing a good job,” Trump said about the Israeli prime minister, with whom he would speak later this Friday, said the Republican candidate. The former American president added that Sinwar’s death “facilitates” the prospect of peace in Gaza.
In July, Trump received a visit from Netanyahu at his resort in Florida and made peace with the Israeli prime minister, who had been the target of criticism from the presidential candidate.
The Republican accused Netanyahu of having withdrawn at the last minute from participating in the US attack that killed General Qassem Soleimani, head of Iran’s Quds Force, in 2020, when Trump was president, and said that the Israeli prime minister “was the first person to congratulate” Biden on his victory in the presidential election four years ago – Trump claims to this day that there was electoral fraud.
