12 million votes have already been counted in the USA

17 days before the American elections, the Electoral Laboratory at the University of Florida reported that, as of Friday (18) night, 12 million votes had been tallied, 1/3 of which were in the seven swing states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – which are decisive in defining the United States elections.

During the electoral race, this Saturday (19), the candidates, Kamala Harris, from the Democratic Party, and Donald Trump, from the Republican Party, fulfilled agendas in these swing states to attract voters.

In Pennsylvania, in his speech, Trump said that American inflation had worsened under Joe Biden’s government and promised to reduce inflationary numbers if elected. During the event, Trump advisor Jason Miller told reporters that the candidate’s speech marks the “beginning of the end of the campaign”. And he added that “the event at Madison Square Garden, in New York, which we will have next weekend, will be the formal introduction to the conclusion of this presidential contest between the two candidates”.

In Michigan and Georgia, Harris encouraged voters to vote before November 5th, indicating that “civil duty can make a difference”. She also praised record early voting in Georgia. The candidate defended a change in strategy in her campaign, stating that she will act, in this final stretch, with attacks on Trump since, according to Harris, the Republican candidate for the White House “is becoming increasingly unstable”.

According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the 2020 elections, more than 69% voters voted early by mail or directly at the polls. The possibility of voting before the official day has been gaining support among American voters because the election is always held on the first Tuesday of November, which makes it difficult for some people to go to the polls, as it is a working day.
