Three people were found dead in a hotel in Tashkent, including a Russian journalist.

On Tuesday, October 22, it became known that two days ago in Tashkent, the bodies of three people were found in the Karaman Palace hotel, including a journalist from Russia, her friend (also a citizen of the Russian Federation) and a citizen of Uzbekistan.

The website “Gazeta.uz” writes about this with reference to the press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan, Khayot Shamsutdinov.

The publication names the deceased Russian journalist. This is Inessa Papernaya (born in 1977), who worked for the Profile magazine and as a freelance writer for Lenta.ru. It is reported that her friend, born in 1979, also died.

A citizen of Uzbekistan (born in 1976) was found dead in the bathroom of another hotel room.

According to a preliminary forensic diagnosis, the death of three people was caused by poisoning of unknown etiology.

In connection with this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under paragraph “a” of Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code (performance of work or provision of services that does not meet safety requirements), and investigative actions are underway.

The Baza Telegram channel writes that the dead could have been poisoned by gas that got into the ventilation system after cleaning the pool.
