Steve Bannon free before US elections, Trump’s guru will be released from prison on Tuesday

Steve Bannon, the guru of the Trumpian US far right, will be released from prison next Tuesday, when he will have served 120 days in prison for refusing to testify before Congress on the assault on Capitol Hill.

Donald Trump’s former strategist will therefore be free to resume his incendiary “War Room” podcast, which continued to air without him during his detention, in the final days of the election campaign before the November 5 vote.

His lawyers had asked that Bannon be allowed to serve the last days of his sentence under house arrest, but the Bureau of Prison sent them a letter confirming his original release date of October 29, stating that they are not house arrest granted for periods of less than 30 days. During his three months in Danbury Federal Penitentiary, Bannon worked in the prison library.
