Brits want to ban disposable e-cigarettes from summer

England wants to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes from next summer. Single-use vapes are often thrown in the trash or on the street instead of recycled – “leading to a flood of trash on our streets.”said the British government. According to the plans, companies should be able to sell their remaining stocks until June 1, 2025.

It is estimated that almost five million disposable vapes were thrown away every week last year – that was almost four times as many as a year before, according to the statement from London.

The ban will not only help protect the environment, but will also make e-cigarettes less attractive to younger people, said State Secretary Andrew Gwynne. “It is deeply worrying that a quarter of 11 to 15 year olds have used a vape in the past year.” Disposable products are often the product of choice. Parliament still has to vote on the project.

The previous conservative government had already announced a ban. The social democratic Labor Party, which has been in power since the summer, now wants to implement it. She also wants to take up plans from the Conservatives who wanted to gradually ban future generations from buying conventional cigarettes.
