Satellite image of Iran’s missile factory after Israel’s attack

Satellite images show that the Iranian ballistic missile fuel factory at Parchin base was damaged after an Israeli attack.

On October 26, the Iranian Army General Staff said that Israeli fighter jets launched missiles from Iraqi airspace, about 112 km from the Iranian border, targeting military locations and radio stations in the early morning raid. radar of this country. Iran said some of its military facilities were hit, but only suffered “light losses and were quickly repaired”.

American and Israeli media quoted anonymous sources as saying that three Israeli airstrikes in Operation Repentance Day fired missiles and drones (UAVs) targeting about 20 targets on Iranian territory. The first wave attacked Iran’s air defense system, including the S-300 system protecting Imam Khomeinei International Airport in Tehran, the second and third waves focused on missile bases, UAVs and production facilities. the country’s arms exports.

Page War Zone The US posted satellite photos taken by Planet Labs showing that at least two Iranian factory areas were damaged in the attack, apparently by missiles or UAVs. It is currently unclear what type of missile or UAV the IDF used in the raid.

Parchin base is home to a factory that produces solid fuel for Iran’s ballistic missile engines. This facility will be operational in 2021, located about 1,500 km east of the capital Tehran.

The factory could produce fuel for Scud, Fateh 110 and Zelzal ballistic missiles. Parchin base had an explosion in October 2014, when Iranian officials accused Israeli or American intelligence of sabotage.

According to analysis by Decker Eveleth, a member of the Center for Naval Analyzes (CNA) in Washington, at least three fuel manufacturing buildings and a warehouse in Parchin were destroyed, including the fuel mixing facility. rocket.

“Industrial-level fuel mixers are very difficult to buy equipment, and are strictly controlled for import and export. Iran has spent a lot of money in recent years to import these equipment into the country. They will lose more a lot of time to replace what was destroyed,” Eveleth commented.

Meanwhile, expert David Albright, a former United Nations weapons inspector and founder of the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) in Washington, said that Israel destroyed two fuel manufacturing buildings. and another building in Parchin.

These buildings are located near a facility once suspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, but closed in 2003.

Iranian officials said at least three missile bases belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were attacked. They confirmed that Iranian air defenses shot down a number of UAVs that Israel used to attack the Parchin base, but did not disclose further information.

Expert Eveleth said he had access to some satellite images showing that Israel also attacked two rocket fuel production buildings in the Khojir region, located near the capital Tehran. “Israel may have seriously reduced Iran’s large-scale missile production capacity,” Eveleth said.

Residents of Salah Alden province in northern Iraq also posted a number of images showing rocket parts falling in the area. This appears to be a booster stage separated from Israeli missiles, after they were launched over Iraqi airspace to attack targets in Iran.

Iran accused the US of “complicity” with Israel in the attack, because Iraqi airspace was completely controlled by the US military.

Israeli, Iranian and Iraqi officials have not commented on this information.

The Israeli Army (IDF) early on the morning of October 26 deployed 100 military aircraft, including F-35I stealth fighters, to launch a series of missiles at military targets in Iran in response to Iran’s attack. Tehran earlier this month.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s airstrike on October 26 as a blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. Tehran reiterated its right to self-defense against acts of “aggression”, but has not announced response measures.

Information over the past 24 hours shows that Israel seems to only focus on military targets on Iranian territory, showing that Tel Aviv has given in to calls from the US to not escalate and not target oil facilities. Tehran’s gas and nuclear power. The damage after the attack also seems to be within the limit that Iran has repeatedly hinted at, helping the situation not escalate further.

US President Joe Biden announced that he had discussed with national security officials about a series of new developments in the Middle East. He emphasized that the US military is ready to protect Israel from any further retaliation from Iran and its allies.

However, he also hopes that the raids back and forth between Israel and Iran “will end here”, because Israel only raids military targets.
