The Government of Lebanon has denounced that the Israeli Army has kidnapped a civilian during a raid carried out this past Friday in the north of the country, confirmed by the Israeli military who, on the contrary, assure that the captured person is a senior Hezbollah official. .

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation of Lebanon, Ali Jamié, has assured that the kidnapped person is a civilian ship captain and that he is in no way involved with the Shiite militia-party, which has also rejected any connection with the captive. Security sources have also confirmed to ‘L’Orient-Le Jour’ that he appears to be a commercial ship captain.

Israel has not yet commented on the alleged assault or its results, but military sources on condition of anonymity have confirmed the raid on the American portal Axios and guaranteed that the detainee is a member of the organization.

Specifically, it would be an individual named Imad Amhaz, a senior leader of Hezbollah’s naval forces, captured to “facilitate his subsequent interrogation,” according to these sources.

According to Lebanese journalist Hasan Illaik, the operation was carried out during the early hours of Friday to Saturday by more than 25 Israeli soldiers on the coast of Batroun, south of Tripoli, in a villa near the beach.
