Hunter wanted as a suspect apparently found dead

The hunter who is said to have shot two people in Austria is dead, according to media information. The man’s body was found in a forest and the police assume it was suicide, writes the “Kronen Zeitung”.

The police want to report on the status of the investigation at a press conference at 3 p.m. The 56-year-old’s getaway car was seized in a forest on Friday.

The wanted man is said to have killed two people with targeted headshots within less than two hours on Monday. It is the mayor of the town of Kirchberg ob der Donau and a former hunting director.

According to police findings, the background to the crime may have been hunting law disputes. Because the man had arguments with numerous other people in the hunting community, around 50 people had now been placed under police protection.
