Hecking should save VfL Bochum

Dieter Hecking is supposed to save VfL Bochum from relegation from the Bundesliga. According to dpa information, the 60-year-old former Wolfsburg and Gladbach coach is the preferred candidate from the bottom of the table to succeed Peter Zeidler, who is on leave. A final round of negotiations is due to take place on Sunday. If both sides agree, the personnel could be announced in the coming days.

Under interim coach Markus Feldhoff, VfL recently suffered two bitter defeats with 2:12 goals. The Westphalians are currently last in the table with just one point from nine games. Hecking was most recently the sports director at 1. FC Nürnberg and was dismissed from there in May.
