Red alert in Barcelona, ​​trains suspended in Catalonia. Valencia: 50 cars in the garage without victims

No victims were found among the carcasses of 50 cars inspected by rescuers in the garage of the Bonaire shopping center in Aldaia (Valencia), which was flooded last Tuesday. This was confirmed by the police spokesperson, Ricardo Gutierrez, at the end of the interventions in the car park carried out with four drones, and by the firefighters. The underground car park has a capacity of around 2,500 vehicles, according to police sources, who added that it was not at capacity that day. Over the past weekend, the water filling the car park was pumped out, amid fears that hundreds of people were trapped in the cars. An initial inspection was carried out with a canoe on Saturday, but the water still covered the vehicles and prevented anything from being seen. A new incursion was made on Sunday with a dinghy and several kayaks.

The weather warning continues

Weather warning in six regions. The Meteorological Service of Catalonia hasred alert has been declared in three areas of Barcelona such as Baix Llobregat, Garraf and Barcelones, while in Valles Occidental, Valles Oriental and Maresme it places the alert at high danger, level 4 on a scale of 6. Consequently the Generalitat has sent alarm messages to the mobile phones of residents of the affected regions. Due to the arrival of continuous and torrential rains, the authorities are asking for extreme precautions, to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from streams and ravines.

Impressive are the images of the torrential rains which yesterday hit especially the regions of Tarragona in Catalonia and which today cause the flooding of streets, buildings and rooms located on the ground floors in places such as Castelldefels and Gava, in Barcelona, ​​and have put the Llobregat and Francoli rivers. Due to the bad weather caused by the Dana meteorological phenomenon, the Renfe railway company decided to suspend all regional connections in Cataloniathe service known as ‘Rodalies de Catalunya’. According to Renfe sources, only trains already in circulation will continue their journey to reach their destination, except in the case of the RL3 line between Lleida and Cervera, which remains operational. The situation will remain as such until the end of the Generalitat alert, scheduled for around 2pm.
